(syn. Sericornis Ϯ Tasmanian Scrubwren S. humilis) Tasmania, Australia (named for the Dutch explorer Abel Tasman, who sighted the island in 1642); Gr. ορνις ornis, ορνιθος ornithos  bird (see Neosericornis).
