Media notes
This tiny wader (Red Necked Stint) arrives in New Zealand from it's breeding grounds in Siberia every spring and departs.....again in autumn. About 200 birds reach New Zealand each year. They are the fifth most common migrant wader in New Zealand. They are often in the company of Banded dotterels and NZ Dotterels. It is an amazing journey to make each year for a bird that is just slightly larger than a sparrow. Elevation: 0 m. Date added to IBC: June 21, 2016.
