A large, drab hummingbird restricted to the Marañon drainage of northern Peru and extreme southern Ecuador. It has dull green upperparts, light gray underparts, green flecks on the throat, and a white spot behind the eye. Similar to Tumbes Hummingbird, but throat spots are much more conspicuous and range does not extend to the Pacific side of the Andes. Inhabits dry and semi-humid forest and scrub.
