Identification

POWERED BY MERLIN

Pretty, medium-sized sunbird with an iridescent blue head and breast. The yellow shoulder tufts are usually hidden. Note the red eye. The sexes are similar, though females are duller. Found in montane forest along the Albertine Rift, mainly in the canopy. The song is a distinctive, high, up-and-down series that can be repeated for a long time. Male is similar to male Green-headed Sunbird, but has a red eye and is darker overall.
