Media notes
A bird in its roosting tree, waking up (from 4:30 to 6:00 h). The aim of this video clip is to convey an impression of the sort of observation we had with this mythical, sadly Critically Endangered species. Being a very shy bird, we approached the roosting site before 4:00 h, to make sure that any minimal noise was produced in complete darkness. Then we had a long, motionless wait, in which the light was very slowly increasing. The first perceptions seemed more like wishful imagination, but time, and light, were confirming that the first dubious shadow was the actual bird. We enjoyed the bird for more than one hour with enough light, and to our enthusiasm, it started to call loudly and was joined by two other individuals (see other videos of this series). Elevation: 67 m. Date added to IBC: June 23, 2016.
