Media notes
A female stealing sap of a tree, out of a series of holes that was created by Rufous-bellied Woodpecker. In the Old World, Rufous-bellied Woodpecker is one few other species (Arabian and Great Spotted Woodpecker) who excavate holes to feed on sap. This feeding behaviour was once thought to be restricted to the New World. Rufous-bellied Woodpecker was seen nearby, but maybe Himalayan Woodpecker creates its one holes? As it's closely related to Great Spotted Woodpecker?. Elevation: 1985 m. Date added to IBC: June 22, 2016.
