The Catalan Breeding Bird Atlas 1999-2002 is the result of work carried out by over 500 collaborators between 1999 and 2002.
The main body of the book has been compiled by specialists in their field and draws together all available information regarding distribution, ecological requirements, size of the breeding population, evolution, status and threats for each of the 232 species which nest regularly in Catalonia, and includes:
- 232 illustrations- 232 distribution maps in UTM 10x10 km squares- 185 abundance index maps (resolution 500x500 m)- 189 altitude graphs- 185 landscape graphs- 93 SOCC density tables
Also includes:- Overview of the physical landscapes and habitats of Catalonia, from an ornithological point of view.- Extensive methodology chapter explaining in detail the data analysis systems employed.- Description of the situation of migratory summer species which do not nest regularly in Catalonia.- Analysis of changes with respect to the original atlas, related to changes in the Catalonian landscape.- Summary of the changes in Catalan ornithology over recent decades.
