Peter Boesman

Peter Boesman (Belgium, 1963) is a lifelong world birder who has contributed to the birding community in many different ways. For the last 25 years, he has focused on studying and recording bird vocalizations worldwide, has been a pioneer in producing multimedia publications to divulge large parts of his birdsound collection and he has shared more birdsounds on-line than anyone in the world. He has looked at bird voice from many different angles, from identification in the field to support for taxonomic decisions, from communication functionality to abstract fingerprint-like sonogram descriptions, in the meantime enjoying its unique musical beauty (Peter holds a MSc in Engineering Sciences and a Master in Music). He sees HBW Alive as the perfect platform, in which bird voice can be documented by combining literature and multimedia.
