Family Woodpeckers (Picidae)

Least Concern

White-browed Piculet (Sasia ochracea)

Taxonomy

French: Picumne à sourcils blancs German: Rötelmausspecht Spanish: Carpinterito cejiblanco
Taxonomy:

Sasia ochracea

Recent molecular analyses#R revealed that this species consists of at least five lineages (India and Nepal; Myanmar and India; S Annam and Cochinchina; rest of Indochina; and probably Tenasserim, in S Myanmar); further investigation strongly recommended. Delimitation of races listed below therefore provisional. Race hasbroucki, described from S Myanmar and S Thailand, is regarded as synonymous with reichenowi. Birds from S Assam, Bangladesh and SW Myanmar sometimes separated as race querulivox on basis of paler coloration, but this matched by individuals from SE Asia. Three subspecies recognized.
