Nathalie, as pertains to Kenya, west, or east of the Rift means west, or east of the Eastern (aka Gregory) Rift.  The Masai Mara National Reserve is west of the Eastern Rift.  Therefore, this is race crocatus.  Race suahelicus in Kenya is east of the Rift.
