Camptolophus

(syn. Cacatua Ϯ Salmon-crested Cockatoo C. moluccensis) Gr. καμπτος kamptos  flexible, curved  < καμπτω kamptō  to bend; λοφος lophos crest; "*) Psittaci Camptolophini a nomine generis maximi appellati. Nomina omnia huic generi prius data male formata sunt: Cacatua v. Kakadoe, vox barbara; - Plyctolophus non probandum; plyctos enim nullum est vocabulum, neque græcum, nec alius linguæ; - Plictolophus! exacte eodem modo peccat; - Plissolophus, "crista gradiens," nimis ineptum. Sola variatio hujus nominis, forma correcta, foret: Plectolophus, cujus vero sensus absurdus, πλεκτος enim græce significat: textilis, contextus (flätad; geflockten; enlacé; twisted); πληκτος vero: percussus (slagen, geschlagen, frappé, beaten). Nomen igitur novum fingendum erat.  ... Camptolophus nob., pro Plyctolopho! Vieill. Anal.; cf. notam p. 68 (typus, auct. Vigorsio, Ps. philippinarum Gm.).  - Signif.: Camptolophus, crista plicatili" (Sundevall 1872).
