(syn. Zoothera Ϯ Bonin Thrush Z. terrestris) Gr. κιχλη kikhlē  thrush; L. passer, passeris  sparrow; "Il faut encore éliminer des Turdiens ma Geocichla terrestris (Consp., p. 268), dont je constitue mon genre Cichlopasser" (Bonaparte 1854). The extinct, modestly plumaged Bonin Thrush is known only from four specimens collected in 1828 on Peel I., in the Bonin Is.
