Gr. κιρρος kirrhos  tawny; επιδεσμος epidesmos  bandage, upper bandage; "Corpore subtus a mento usque ad crissi finem et fronte (pone haud nigro-marginata) candidis, excepta pectoris fascia largissima ferruginea" (Wagler 1827) (syn. Eupoda atrifrons).
