(Bucconidae; Ϯ Chestnut-capped Puffbird C. macrodactylus) Gr. κυφος kuphos  hunch-backed, humped  < κυπτω kuptō  to stoop; "CYPHOS sive TAMATIA.  Macrorhynchus, taciturnus, solitarius, muscicaparum modo volans; capite crasso; rostro longo, ad basin vibrissis nigris tecto, lateraliter subcompresso, apice dentato, adunco; ricta oris infra oculos protenso; alis, nec non cauda tarsisque brevibus; digitis anticis subfissis, inaequalibus, externo subrobusto; capite crasso; lingua tenui, apice acuta; naribus rotundis" (von Spix 1824).   Synon. Argicus.
