Dasycelis

(syn. Pygoscelis Ϯ Chinstrap Penguin P. antarcticus) Portmanteau of genera Dasyrhamphus Reichenbach, 1850, penguin, and Pygoscelis Wagler, 1832, penguin; "Dasycelis, gen. nov.  Differs from Dasyrhamphus, which has fourteen tail-feathers, and from Pygoscelis, which has sixteen, in having only twelve feathers in the tail in the adult stage.  Type, Dasycelis antarctica (Forster)" (Mathews 1934).
