(Psittacidae; Ϯ Eclectus Parrot E. roratus) Gr. εκλεκτος eklektos  selected, chosen  < εκλεκτοω eklektoō  to be separated; "Eclectus *) Wagl., Edellori ...  plumae capitis collique discretae, subsericeae ...  *) Eκλεκτος electus" (Wagler 1832). The male Eclectus Parrot has shining green plumage, with red flanks and blue in the wings; the female is markedly different, with shining red and purple plumage.
