Classif. 1837), legas: Engyptila: εγγυς, angustus, tenuis, et πτιλον, pluma; ob remigem primam apice angustam, pogonio carentem. Nomen, propter nomen Leptoptilum Less. Tr. 1831, p. 123, mutandum" (Sundevall 1873).
