(syn. Calamanthus Ϯ Rufous Fieldwren C. campestris wayensis) Gr. ερημια erēmia  desert, wilderness; genus Calamanthus Gould, 1838, fieldwren; "As to the value of structural differences this species shows more differences from Calamanthus than does Hylacola, and it is advisable to introduce a new sub-generic name, Eremianthus, selecting Calamanthus campestris wayensis Mathews as the type" (Mathews 1922).
