Fullerellus

(syn. Plocepasser Ϯ Donaldson-Smith's Sparrow Weaver P. donaldsoni) Dim. after Arthur Bennett Fuller (1893-1976) US zoologist, collector in Kenya 1930, Curator of Cleveland Mus. 1931-1945; "Fullerellus, gen. nov. 1  ...  Type.- Ploceipasser donaldsoni Sharpe.  Remarks.- The very distinct Plocepasser donaldsoni is so peculiar in its structural characters that it seems out of place in the genus Plocepasser, and merits removal to another generic group. Since all the generic names based on species now in the genus Plocepasser are synonyms of this, there remains to be provided a new generic term for Plocepasser donaldsoni. In view of this it seems desirable to recognize Mr. Arthur B. Fuller's many and important contributions to the progress of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History by giving his name to this new genus.  ...  1 Named for Arthur Bennett Fuller, the naturalist of the White-Fuller Expedition, who collected most of the birds" (Oberholser 1945).
