Gr. αἱμα haima, αἱματος haimatos  blood; ορρος orrhos  rump (cf. αἱμορρους haimorrhous  flowing with blood).
● ex “Cassique rouge” of Brisson 1760 (Cacicus).
● ex “Red-vented Fly-catcher” and “Yellow-vented Fly-catcher” of Brown 1776, and Latham 1783 (subsp. Pycnonotus cafer).
