Hemipalama

Gr. ἡμι- hēmi-  small  < ἡμισυς hēmisus  half; παλαμη palamē  palm of the hand (i.e. web of the foot).
● (syn. Calidris Ϯ Semipalmated Sandpiper C. pusilla) "third, a new subgenus which I propose to institute under the name of Hemipalama, for the TRINGA semipalmata of Wilson, the characters of which will be, toes semipalmated" (Bonaparte 1825).
● (syn. Calidris Ϯ Stilt Sandpiper C. himantopus) "75. Hemipalama, Bp.   205. himantopus, Bp. (douglasi, Sw.  auduboni, Nutt.  multifasciata, Licht.)" (Bonaparte 1856 (here the Tringa semipalmata of Wilson is treated under Ereunetes)).  Var. Hemipalma.
