(syn. Rhipidura Ϯ Rufous Fantail R. rufifrons) Frank Ernest Howe (1878-1955) Australian tailor, oologist, field ornithologist; L. avis  bird; "724. HOWEAVIS, gen. nov.  Differs from Rhipidura in its much longer stouter bill and stouter feet with a proportionately longer first primary.  Type, Muscicapa rufifrons Latham" (Mathews 1912).
