Impeyanus

(syn. Lophophorus Ϯ Himalayan Monal L. impejanus) Lady Mary Impey (1749-1818) collector of bird paintings, early aviculturalist who kept monal pheasants in captivity, and wife of Sir Elijah Impey (1732-1809) Chief Justice of Bengal 1774-1783 (cf. specific name Phasianus impejanus Latham, 1790); "CCII.e Genre. IMPEY; Impeyanus.  Monaul, Monaulus, Sonnini, Vieill.; Lophophorus, Temm.  ...  Nous ne conservons dans ce genre qu'une espèce, le vrai monaul, bien différent du Lophophore de M. Temminck par le bec. Le nom du genre est celui de Lady Impey.   IMPEY RESPLENDISSANT; Impeyanus refulgens: Phasianus impeyanus, Lath." (Lesson 1831).
