(Strigidae; Ϯ Buffy Fish Owl K. ketupu) Javanese name Blo-ketupu for the Buffy Fish Owl (cf. Malay name Ketupok; specific name Strix ketupu Horsfield, 1821); "IX.e Sous-genre KETUPU; Ketupa.  Caractères des chats-huans; tête surmontée de deux huppes déjetées en arrière; tarses complétement nus et réticulés.   44. (Lesson 1830). “Ketupu should be written Ketupa. It is better not to introduce barbarous names into science; but when done, they should at least have a Latin termination given them.” (Strickland 1841); "Ketupa Lesson, Traité d'Orn., livr. 2, 1830, p. 114. Type, by tautonymy, Ketupa javanensis Lesson = Strix ketupu Horsfield." (Peters 1940, IV, 121).
