(syn. Somateria Ϯ Spectacled Eider S. fischeri) Gr. λαμπρος lampros  splendid; νηττα nētta  duck; "Subgenus 2. LAMPRONETTA NOB.  ...Rostrum, ut videtur, subsordide vel cinerascente? olivaceum, sed flavescens, exsiccatum flavissimum. Oculi marium adultorum ptilosi nuptiali indutorum in elevatione e pennis densissimis, reclinatis, brevibus, subrigidulis, sericeis formata, subhexagona, sed subrotundata albida, sordide aurantio irrorata latissima, limbo atro, parte inferiore angustissimo ex parte obsoleto, superiore vero dilatato cincti inveniuntur eoque quasi perspicillo instructi apparent. Ptilosis frontalis et genalis albae, pallide viridi et supra sordide aurantio irroratae. Gula maris tota alba, vix tenuissime flavicans.  ...Species: Fuligula (Lampronetta) Fischeri Nov. Spec."
