Lepidogenys

(syn. Aviceda Ϯ Pacific Baza A. subcristata) Gr. λεπις lepis, λεπιδος lepidos  scale, flake  < λεπω lepō  to peel; γενυς genus, γενυος genuos  jaw, cheek, chin; "LEPIDOGENYS SUBCRISTATUS.  ...  This bird would belong to M. Lesson's genus Lophotes; but that term having been previously employed, I have been induced to adopt the generic title proposed by Mr. J. E. Gray in its stead. The form is somewhat allied to Pernis." (Gould 1838).
