Leptotarsis

(syn. Dendrocygna Ϯ Plumed Whistling Duck D. eytoni) Gr. λεπτος leptos  delicate, slender; Mod. L. tarsus  shank, leg  < Gr. ταρσος tarsos  flat of the foot; "GENUS IV.  LEPTOTARSIS.  ...  Tarsi longi et graciles. Digiti unguibus paululum incurvatis acutisque armati.  ...  The structure of the bill appears to ally this genus to that of Dendrocygna; while, on the other hand, that of the tail, which, though not elongated, is acuminate, to the genus Dafila" (Eyton 1838).
