Lipocentrus

(syn. Phoenicoparrus Ϯ Andean Flamingo P. andinus) Gr. λιπο- lipo-  without  < λειπω leipō  to be wanting; κεντρον kentron  spur; "Phoenicopterus antiq. L. - a) halluce parvo, altius elevato (Ph. antiquorum Temm.).  -  b) Halluce nullo, cauda longiore (andinus Philippi, Atacama): Phænicoparrus! Bp. (vel Lipocentrus: λειπω, amitto; κεντρον, calcar). Forte genus distinctum, sed nobis ignotus" (Sundevall 1873).
