‡ (syn. Alopochen Ϯ Réunion Sheldgoose A. kervazoi) Mascarene Islands; Gr. χην khēn, χηνος khēnos  goose. The Réunion Sheldgoose was considered very good to eat, and over-hunting doubtless caused its extinction during the 17th century.
