Mezobucco

(syn. Psilopogon Ϯ Blue-eared Barbet P. duvaucelii) Gr. μεσος mesos  middle; genus Bucco Temminck, 1820, barbet; "5. MEZOBUCCO, gen. n.  The type of this genus is M. duvauceli, a species which holds an intermediate position between Cyanops and Xantholæma. The culmen does not exceed the tarsus in length, the bill is pointed, not obtuse, as in Xantholæma, and the genus differs from Cyanops in the great length of the rictal bristles, which reach beyond the tip of the bill" (Shelley 1889).   Var. Mesobucco.
