Moniapura

(syn. Chalcopsitta Ϯ Brown Lory C. duivenbodei) Perhaps from Gr. μονιας monias  solitary; πυρ pur, πυρος puros  fire (cf. μωνιη mōniē  lightly regarded; ουρα oura  tail); "MONIAPURA gen. nov.  Type, duivenbodei Dubois 1884 (Chalcopsittacus).  ...  DUIVENBODE'S LORY (Moniapura duivenbodei) is one of the peculiar Lories, which shows confusion with more than one group. It is of peculiar coloration and form, and cannot be reconciled with Chalcopsitta, where it has been placed, Eos, Pseudeos or Trichoglossus, the related groups near and far. It is larger than any, with the long tail of the last named, but not of the same formation." (Iredale 1956).
