Neocalophasis

(syn. Syrmaticus Ϯ Mikado Pheasant S. mikado) Gr. νεος neos  new, strange; genus Calophasis Elliot, 1872, pheasant; "NEOCALOPHASIS, gen. nov.   Diagnosis.  -  Hind aspect of tarsus reticulated; spur in male well developed even in immature bird; no white band across lower back; no reddish-brown or chestnut in plumage of male.  Type of the genus.  -  Calophasis mikado O.-Grant of Central Formosa" (Takatsukasa & Kuroda 1922).
