Oenoenas

(syn. Patagioenas Ϯ Short-billed Pigeon P. nigrirostris) Gr. οινος oinos  wine (cf. οινωψ oinōps  wine-coloured); οινας oinas, οιναδος oinados  pigeon; "General plumage brown, more or less vinous, and with no light spots on the sides of the neck, but sometimes with reddish spots, more or less obsolete, on the hind neck (Œnœnas)." (Salvadori 1893).
