(syn. Tinamus Ϯ Great Tinamou T. major serratus) Gr. πεζος pezos walking; "GENUS 2. PEZUS.  In sylvis campestribus vivens; rostro haud elongato, lateraliter sulcato, apice subintumescenti, deflexo; naribus intermediis; digitis breviusculis, postico elato, unguiculato absque phalangibus: tarsis antice et postice scutellato-fasciatis.   SPECIES 1. PEZUS SERRATUS" (von Spix 1825).
