Phrynorhamphus

(syn. Smithornis Ϯ African Broadbill S. capensis) Gr. φρυνος phrunos  toad; ῥαμφος rhamphos  bill; "PHRYNORHAMPHUS, Kaup.  Smithornis, Ch. Bonap.  The bill very broad, half as high as broad, with sharp culmen" (Kaup 1852).   Var. Prynorhamphus.
