(Bonaparte 1856); "Pipile Bonaparte, Compt. Rend. Acad. Sci. Paris, 42, 1856, p. 877. Type, by tautonymy, Penelope leucolophos Merrem = Crax pipile Jacquin." (Peters 1934, II, 22). Recent work indicates that this genus should be subsumed into Aburria.
