Plesiositagra

(syn. Ploceus Ϯ Speke's Weaver P. spekei) Gr. πλησιος plēsios  close to, near  < πελας pelas  near  < πελαζω pelazō  to bring near; genus Sitagra Reichenbach, 1850, weaver; "Further, according to Richmond's latest List, the type of Hyphantornis Gray, 1844, is grandis Gray, which was later made the type of Hypermegethes by Reichenow, and as Oberholser does not include this species in his list, apparently he would recognize Reichenow's division. This would still leave Hyphantornis auct. nameless, so that until the matter is settled we may use the name Plesiositagra, gen. nov., with the type-species here named as Hyphantornis spekei Heuglin." (Iredale & Bannerman 1921).   Var. Pleseositagra.
