Pseudhalcyon

(syn. Halcyon Ϯ Grey-headed Kingfisher H. leucocephala) Gr. ψευδος pseudos  false; genus Halcyon Swainson, 1821, kingfisher; "Several important characters leave no doubt in my mind that leucocephala should receive full generic rank.   ...   Furthermore, the bill of "Halcyon" leucocephala is like that of Sauropatis, that is, the culmen is level, not depressed at the tip as in the other African species. We find therefore that Chelicutona resembles Sauropatis in the wing-pattern, Chelicutia resembles it in the shape of the wing and "Halcyon" leucocephala resembles it in the shape of the bill. In view of these differences, I propose for H. leucocephala P. L. S. Müller the new generic name of PSEUDHALCYON." (A. Roberts 1922).   Var. Pseudalcyon.
