Royigerygone

(syn. Gerygone Ϯ Norfolk Island Gerygone G. modesta) Portmanteau of given name Roy (after Raoul Sunday 'Roy' Bell (1882-1966) born on Sunday I., Kermadecs, Australian Army 1915-1919, collector, photographer, farmer on Norfolk I. 1919-1966) and genus Gerygone Gould, 1841, gerygone; "App. 10. ROYIGERYGONE, gen. nov.  Differs from Pseudogerygone in its much longer slenderer bill and stouter legs and feet, with the first primary proprotionately longer. This genus shows an approach to Hapolorhynchus Reichenow.  Type, Gerygone mathewsae Mathews" (Mathews 1912); "Gerygone mathewsae nom. n.  Synonym: Gerygone modesta Pelzeln (not Gould), Sitz. k. Akad. Wien. vol. xli. p. 320. 1860: Norfolk Island." (Mathews 1912).
