Sthenelides

(syn. Cygnus Ϯ Black-necked Swan C. melancoryphus) Genus Sthenelus Stejneger, 1882, swan; Gr. -οιδης -oidēs  resembling; "In the first place, I find that the name Sthenelus, which I applied, in 1882, to the Black-necked Swan from South America, was preoccupied. It consquently requires a new one, and I propose in future to call the species Sthenelides melancorypha" (Stejneger 1884).
