Nycthemerus

(syn. Lophura Ϯ Silver Pheasant L. nycthemera) Specific name Phasianus nycthemera Linnaeus, 1758; "The pheasants of China and Thibet form a no less striking feature in Asiatic ornithology; five species of magnificent plumage are peculiar: one of these, the elegant Silver Pheasant (Nycthemerus argentatus) (fig. 80.), has been long domesticated in our aviaries" (Swainson in Murray 1834); "Nycthemerus, Sw.  Head furnished with naked wattles.   N. pictus.
