(syn. Limnodromus Ϯ Short-billed Dowitcher L. grisea) L. longus  long; -rostris  -billed  < rostrum  beak; "Longirostris is, I think, preferable to Macroramfus [sic] for the genus Longbeak" (Wood 1836).  Var.
