It is a female. Another blurry picture shows the rufous band over the head (Male has a black band)

From the locality, I think this has been placed in the wrong "split".  This should be Northern Rufous-winged Antwren.

When did the split happened? I don't find any observations of  Herpsilochmus scapularis (Northern) in Colombia. All updated and reliable guides show only Herpsilochmus rufimarginatus (Southern).

No idea, Luis.

I'm just going from the latest online version of HBW which shows northern as being across S. America (inc. Colombia) and southern as being confined to SE Brazil.

Thanks Phillip. Maybe there is an error in the HBW map. I will be reviewing the changes in this species.
