This is my 100th species with 100th photo. Therefore I select a special bird, elusive Balaeniceps rex or Abu Markub, which is arabic name. Before scientific named by Gould in 1850, arabic traders saw it and called as abu markub (أبو مركوب). Its meaning shoe + bill in English or Pabuç+gaga in Turkish.

We captured it in Mabamba Swamps edge of Victoria Lake in a sunny days. It came from a distance of 2-3 km by flying and landed on very close area. It was our luck. In last year, same bird was star of a documentary film on Turkish T.R.T. channel.

Happy New Years to all of you.
