Identification

Small tapaculo found in the understory of humid forests usually with bamboo, where it is generally very hard to see. Males are uniformly dark gray, while females are dark brown above and dark gray below. The song is a long, fast, and repetitive series of up to 30 mechanical “tip-tip-tip” notes.
