Subtly patterned reddish-brown flycatcher of high-elevation montane forests. Perches upright, often on the tops of snags or bushes around forest edges and clearings. Listen for a series of short bouncing notes followed by a punctuated ending note: “pip-pip-pip, pi-PEW.”
