A medium-sized, long-legged bird of lowland forest undergrowth on Manus in the Admiralty Islands. Mainly jet black with a red belly, extending to the center of the chest, a blue wing patch extending down from the shoulder and some green on the flight feathers. Unmistakable. Feeds on the ground, but usually sings from up in the trees. Song, a 2-note “wow-wow!” repeated at intervals.

Escapee: Exotic species known or suspected to be escaped or released, including those that have bred but don't yet fulfill the criteria for Provisional. Escapee exotics do not count in official eBird totals.
