Stunning male has black mask, silvery cap, white wing patches, and bright orange back and underparts. Female is grayish-brown with paler underparts, fainter wingbars, a rufous tail, and a weak eye-ring. Found in forest clearings and edges, as well as open rocky areas such as scrub and meadows. Like many other redstarts, often perches quite prominently on exposed perches.
