Identification

POWERED BY MERLIN

A little-known and localised, medium-sized bird from seasonally flooded forest. Warm brown upperparts, pale belly and diffusely streaked chest. Note the broad, pale eye-ring and pale bill. Often found in noisy groups or mixed flocks where it forages in the midstory for insects or fruits. Similar to Little Shrikethrush, but White-bellied Pitohui is larger and more gregarious. Song, a short, up-and-down, medium-pitch, whistled duet.
