Identification

POWERED BY MERLIN

Small bird of open arid shrubland and grasslands in southwestern Western Australia. Pale brown above, whitish below, with distinct pale supercilium, streaking on head chest, and long, cocked tail. Forages quietly on the ground or in thick vegetation, where difficult to see. Most easily observed in spring when males perch up in vegetation to sing. Similar to Rufous Fieldwren but no range overlap. Compare Shy Heathwren, which has an unstreaked back and head, white wing spot and darker legs.
